Weekend Fun and Our First Snow!

This weekend was amazing! What made it enter the amazing category is the fact that we got snow in Tennessee! Our first snow of the season and a pretty unexpected snow(which is the best in my opinion). We woke up Friday morning and realized the ground was completely covered. At this point we didn’t know much about how much we would get so Aaron went ahead into work.

Once Foster woke up he and I did our usual feeding and changing and then I got him all bundled up so he could see his first snow!! I was so excited that it was still snowing when we got outside because I wanted him to be able to see the flakes falling from the sky. He was very intrigued by watching them plus it was super cute when they landed on his lashes!

As far as touching it goes, he was very interested but definitely apprehensive about the white stuff. Hunley on the other hand remembered snow from last Winter and was loving it! I think she did about twenty laps of sprints in our yard.

Soon after we had come back in the house and gotten warmed up I got a call from Aaron. Roads were bad and most businesses had closed for the day, including his! He told me that he would be on his way home soon and I was so excited…SNOW DAY!!!

As a little girl I remember getting so excited about snow days, but I do believe as an adult I now get even more excited! They are little magical days set aside from the reality of every day just to enjoy the beauty of snow and the warmth of your home with the people you love! I. LOVE. SNOW. DAYS!

When Aaron got home we all bundled back up and went outside to explore some snow adventures. I placed Foster on top of a small table we have outside so he could check things out in his own pace. Aaron tried to get him to touch it by throwing a snow ball in his lap (or what he intended to be his lap) instead it ended up in Foster’s face (womp, womp). So, after that Foster was pretty much done with the snow. We tried a few more attempts but he really wasn’t having it.

After that me and Foster headed inside but Aaron stayed out playing with Hunley in the snow and Foster loved watching them. Safety from a distance I guess. He’s definitely loving him some Hunley…most days (unless she knocks him over). It’s an on again off again relationship really.

Saturday Aaron worked so I made some baby food in the morning and hung out with Foster. He is starting to eat a lot more food! So, I am trying to have enough prepped for him because he is very verbal when he’s hungry…if you catch my drift. Butternut squash seems to be one of his faves so I prepped some of that for him.

I’m trying to introduce a little more chunky foods since he is getting a few teeth now. So, instead of pureeing the squash I just mashed it up with a spoon. The consistency is not as smooth, so Foster wasn’t sure about it at first. But he quickly got over that.

Thankful Aaron only works until 1:00pm on Saturdays. So, when he got home I headed to the recreation center near by just to clear my head for a little bit. I was just feeling overwhelmed with a lot of things. Sometimes you just need to step away, breathe and gain perspective. I am very grateful that I have a husband that understands that and supports me.

Later that night my sister and brother-in-law stopped by to visit which was awesome! They’re amazing people and Foster loooooves them!

Sunday was a tie with Friday as far as amazingness goes! We hung out as a family in the morning. Listened to my dad online for our “church.” Even thought my dad went to heaven over four years ago I am so thankful that we can still listen to him speak about God through his messages that are online. He was such an outstanding speaker that had the ability to relate to people exactly where they are. I am also very thankful that Foster gets to see his papa in action. It is so neat to see how Foster watches him the whole time. I like to think he knows that, that is his papa.

Later in the day we headed to grocery to shop for our second week of Whole 30! That’s write…I said second week! We’re doing pretty good on this challenge. I’ll update you more later this week!

The rest of the day was spent prepping food for the week and playing as a family. So, like I said…an amazing weekend!
